Disaster Relief Trip
ALL TRIPS ARE FULL
Our hope is to send multiple trips over the next several months to Western North Carolina. These trips will be in partnership with Baptists on Mission. We will need volunteers to help provide meals, clean up debris, and begin repairs.
-
There is no cost for the trip, other than any gas for personal vehicles, and food on way. The teams will carpool together, may or may not be in a church van depending on nature and location of trip.
All of the trips will be staying at one of the disaster relief centers of the Baptists on Mission. These are usually churches, and will not have cots. Team members must bring something to sleep on (cots, air mattresses, sleeping bags).
-
Once you complete the sign up form, you will receive an email confirmation that has packing lists, medical release papers, and a liability release. All participants are responsible for their own bed/bedding. You will need a cot or air mattress, but it may not be bigger than a twin.
-
There are lots of options. It will depend on the need at the time.
Most teams will be assisting in one of the following areas: feeding, sorting supplies, debris clean up, mudding out houses, delivering supplies, tarping roofs, etc.
We will try to give more info the week before the trip.
-
Baptists on Mission allows kids as young as 6th graders to participate, but would ask that a parent accompany them (the lodging at the sites will be divided into men and women, so it would be helpful if the parent of the same gender attended). -
Currently we are planning to send teams:
November 7-10 (Team leader: Possibly Jeff Brewer)
November 14-17 (Team leader: Paul Peffly)
December 4-8 (Team leader: Jeff Brewer)
January 8-12 (Team leader: TBD)
We'll keep adding dates as we make plans, but if you'd like to serve with Baptists on Mission, you can sign up through their site to serve whenever you are available.
